Ustaška mladež

The Ustaška mladež (Ustascha Youth), UM for short , was the youth and youth organization of the fascist Ustascha in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during the Second World War .

The UM was formed by ordinance of November 4, 1941 by the Croatian leader Ante Pavelić based on the model of the Hitler Youth . The subgroups of UM were Ustaška uzdanica (Ustasha Hope) for primary school students from 7 to 11 years of age, Ustaški junaci and junakinje (Ustasha heroes) from 11 to 15 years of age and the Ustaška Starčević Mladež ( Ustasha Starčević -Youth ) from 15 to 21 years of age.

The mathematics professor Ivan Oršanić (1904–1968) was appointed leader of the UM .
