Ute Pleuger

Ute Pleuger (* 1956 in Neuwied ) is a German artist .

Life

Growing up in Essen, Ute Pleuger moved to West Berlin in 1975, where she completed her painting studies at the Berlin University of the Arts in 1983 as a master student of Marwan . At the same time she studied the organ with Oda Jürgens, master student of Helmut Walcha .

At the age of 29 she received - together with Eun Nim Ro and Rosemarie Trockel - the ars viva sponsorship award from the Kulturkreis in the Federal Association of German Industry for her “window pictures” from a two-year stay in Paris. In the following years she developed the "Serial Rooms" (1984–2000), which were shown in 1996 in a large solo exhibition in the Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin.

After several years of teaching at the Berlin University of the Arts, Ute Pleuger was appointed professor of painting at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle in 1999 , where she headed the painting department and the painting class until 2016. In addition to painting, Pleuger's work also includes drawings and graphics, since 2000 extensive cycles on music, e.g. B. "Fugen" 2000–2009, "Plein-Jeu" since 2015.

Ute Pleuger is a member of the German Association of Artists . She lives and works in Berlin and Caputh.
