Utpaladeva

Utpaladeva (also Utpalacarya, 900–950 AD) was the founder of a school of Kashmiri Shaivism , is considered a holy Siddha , an important philosopher, and wrote important writings and stotras of Kashmiri Shaivism.

He was the disciple of Somananda and wrote the Ishvarapratyabhijnakarikas and two commentaries on it. Here he sets out a spiritual path that is also aimed at housekeepers and is open to all castes and sexes. The famous Sivastotravali Utpaladevas is still sung and recited a lot in Kashmiri Shaivism today.
