Uwe Schmidt (born March 5, 1976 in Knittelfeld , Austria ) is an Austrian singer, songwriter and musician. The Styrian became known, among other things, for his Austrian hymn “Stolz auf di” - the final music of the ORF broadcast Daheim in Austria .

Life

At the age of 6, Schmidt began to learn the accordion in music school  . At the age of eleven he won his first competition and became the Austrian national champion on classical accordion.

As a 13-year-old he began to play autodidactic keyboard and piano. Numerous appearances in cover bands followed . Uwe Schmidt studied classical accordion in Graz and jazz singing in Vienna.

From 2011 to 2015 he was the band leader and keyboard player in Andreas Gabalier's band . In autumn 2015 he left the band to devote himself to his solo project. In November 2015 he gave his debut concert in Salzburg. With his debut single Freiheit , Schmidt took first place on the ORF Radio Salzburg hit parade for 8 weeks in August and September 2018.

Uwe Schmidt writes his songs in the singer-songwriter style himself. The language he uses is the Styrian-Austrian dialect .
