The Association of Austrian Film Authors (VÖFA) is the association and the representation of interests of the Austrian film and video associations and is the only Austrian member of the world association UNICA (Union Internationale du Cinéma).

The aim of the VÖFA is to promote non-commercial, active and creative work with the film / video media . Knowledge transfer in design and technology; Information and introduction to new technologies by subject matter experts. Its target group are people interested in film, active themselves or as viewers (audience).

  • Patronage and award of competitions as a public forum and incentive for innovative film design
  • Annual implementation of 6 regional or state championships for the individual federal states and the Austrian state championship, as well as an association competition. Further international competitions at venues all over Austria.
  • Selection and supervision of the Austrian film and video contributions at UNICA (competition of the world's best non-professional films and videos from over 40 member countries).
  • Organization and implementation of own training and further education for jurors.
  • Maintaining contacts between like-minded people at home and abroad, cultural exchange with neighboring regions.
  • Framework agreement with AUSTRO-MECHANA and music publishers regarding music rights for VÖFA members.
  • Management of a VÖFA archive and a film service to provide valuable film + video - illustrative material.
  • Issuance of an internationally valid, multilingual film ID card.
  • Publication of the magazine “Filmpresse” to all members throughout Austria.
  • Cooperation with local cultural institutions of all kinds.
