The VDE Verlag GmbH is a German specialist publisher of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The publisher's partner is the Association of Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE).

Locations

The publishing house is located in Berlin and Offenbach . The management is based in Berlin. In the listed VDE building (architect: Hans Hertlein ) in Bismarckstrasse 33, near the Deutsche Oper , there are also central areas of the publishing house such as customer service, marketing & sales, seminars, IT, accounting and delivery. The in-house specialist bookshop "Technothek" is located on the ground floor of the building. Magazine publishing, seminars and book editing form the editorial focus of the publishing house at the Offenbach location.

history

Kurt Fischer and Hans Hasse founded the publishing house in Wuppertal on September 15, 1947 with a license to publish etz Elektrotechnik + Automation . Both had a share capital of 20,000 Reichsmarks each. In 1948 a branch was set up in Bismarckstrasse in Charlottenburg - still the headquarters of the publishing house today. The book publisher began publishing as early as 1949. After the war, the newly founded VDE Association of Electrical Engineering Electronics Information Technology e. V. took over the shares of the two founders in 1950/51.

Standards, VDE regulations, IEC publications

The focus of the standards publisher is the distribution of the VDE regulations with more than 3000 valid DIN-VDE standards and drafts. The set of regulations is available on paper, as a DVD or online in the standards library. In addition, more than 12,000 international publications such as IEC standards or ISO / IEC publications can be purchased as downloads in PDF format.

Books

The book publisher offers a program with more than 650 available titles and more than 100 new publications annually. People in technical professions or in their training, further education or studies are the focus of interest.

The VDE VERLAG publishes around 30 conference volumes with more than 1,500 specialist articles every year. In total, more than 23,000 specialist articles have been published to date (as of September 2019). The focus is on the technical reports of the VDE (Association of Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) itself and its specialist societies ETG (Energy Technology Society), ITG (Information Technology Society) and GMM (VDE / VDI Society for Microelectronics, Microsystems and Precision Engineering).

Magazines

The publisher publishes the electrotechnical magazine etz Elektrotechnik + Automation , the magazines building & automation for the electrical trade, the "openautomation - Markets Trends Innovations" for the field of automation as well as the specialist magazines for geodesy and geoinformatics "avn. - Allgemeine vermessungs-nachrichten" and the "GIS magazines", consisting of gis.BUSINESS and gis.SCIENCE.

Seminars

Since the beginning of 2014, seminars have been expanding the VDE VERLAG portfolio. The division, which was founded more than 40 years ago in the VDE, is now one of the leading training providers and offers its customers from industry, trade, public services and private individuals tailor-made seminars and forums. The spectrum of topics at the more than 500 events ranges from technology trends to standardization and safety topics to management and legal topics.
