VDI 3805
The VDI 3805 is a series of guidelines of the Department of Building Services of the Association of German Engineers . The VDI series of guidelines is written in German and English. The associated guidelines are recognized rules of technology . Under the title “Product data exchange in the technical building equipment (TGA)” there are around 40 subsequent sheets on individual components of the TGA in addition to sheet 1 “Basics”. The aim of the series of guidelines is to describe the product data of components independently of the manufacturer. In the 1990s, this was primarily used for digitizationof catalogs. In addition, the use of the formats according to VDI 3805 creates an important prerequisite for the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) based on open standards (so-called Open-BIM).
