The People's Bank AG , shortly VKB-Bank is an independent Upper Austrian regional bank. The head office of the bank is located in Rudigierstrasse in Linz .

About the VKB

The bank was founded as a cooperative in 1873 . In 1981 the company was converted into a stock corporation. Volkskredit Verwaltungsgenossenschaft is the sole shareholder of Volkskreditbank AG. The cooperative has around 34,000 members. Every customer of VKB-Bank has the opportunity to purchase shares in Volkskredit Verwaltungsgenossenschaft for a minimum capital of 80 euros. The main target group of VKB are medium-sized companies, self-employed and private customers.

Once again, the international Financial Times magazine “The Banker” named VKB-Bank the most financially strong bank in Austria. In relation to the balance sheet total, according to "The Banker", the bank is again by far the most financially strong bank in Austria. From a global perspective, the bank ranks 221 in the top 1000 banks in this ranking. The next Austrian lending company only follows in 385th place. The annual analysis of the banks with the best core capital is "the most comprehensive bank ranking available" according to the Financial Times.

The company is a universal bank for private and corporate customers. Further areas are VKB Private Banking, VKB Insurance Service, VKB Real Estate and VKB Leasing.

The name "VKB-Bank" is what is known as a redundant acronym .
