vPvB substance

A vPvB substance is a chemical substance that is very persistent and very bioaccumulative according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH regulation according to Article 57e. In Article 6a of the Swiss Chemicals Ordinance, reference is made to the REACH Ordinance.

The following criteria for persistence and bioaccumulation potential must be met:

Half-life:
• in sea or fresh water or river mouths> 60 days
• in sea or fresh water or river mouth sediments> 180 days
• in the ground> 180 days
BCF > 5000

Substances that meet these criteria can be included in the list of substances of very high concern and later, if necessary, in Annex XIV of REACH (list of substances subject to authorization).
