The United Swiss Railways (VSB) owned eight C 2/3 mixed-train locomotives . At the VSB they had the series designation III. The first three machines were still delivered to the Glatthalbahn , which was incorporated into the VSB in 1857.

Technical

This is a steam locomotive of the Stephenson long boiler type. It was procured from the Karlsruhe machine works at a unit price of 66,000 Swiss Francs. It largely corresponded to OS B 2/3 , which was also purchased in a similar design for the Rhine Falls Railway. Due to the early sale, only sparse information is available. So she probably still had a wood-burning spark arrester. Machines 41 and 42 were temporarily set up for firing shale coal, but this type of firing did not prove itself.
