history

The band was founded in 1975 by Axel Stammberger in East Berlin.

Founding cast:

  • Godelef Oske (guitar, vocals)
  • Axel Stammberger (guitar)
  • Rüdiger Phillipp (bass, vocals)
  • Stefan Diestelmann (acoustic guitar, harmonica, vocals)
  • Ulrich Kersten (drums, percussion)
  • Thomas Abendroth (organ, e-piano, vocals)

Vai hu mainly played classics of the country blues and urban blues , but mostly titles by the Allman Brothers. The band also had their own compositions in the repertoire. The band's domicile was the Humboldt University student club . The GDR radio produced a concert recording from the Berlin House of Young Talents. At the end of 1976, Stefan Diestelmann decided to leave the band because he was unable to achieve his musical intentions sufficiently. After a short interlude with Engerling , he founded the “Stefan Diestelmann Folk Blues Band” together with Rüdiger Phillipp. His departure also meant the end of the band. Axel Stammberger played with " Veronika Fischer & Band" from 1977 and Ulrich Kersten founded the Jonathan Blues Band in 1980 with Peter Pabst .

In 2012 the band planned a tribute concert for Stefan Diestelmann, who died in 2007, as part of the 1st customer blues night in Berlin's WABE . For organizational reasons, this reunion did not take place until the 2nd customer blues night in October 2013.
