Vaindloo (German and Swedish Stenskär ) is an Estonian Baltic Sea island in the Gulf of Finland . Administratively it belongs to the village of Vainupea in the rural municipality of Vihula in Lääne-Viru County .
Vaindloo is Estonia's northernmost island . It is 600 m long and 200 m wide. Vaindloo is known for its 17 m high lighthouse ; it was built in 1871 (previous wooden building from 1718). Next to it is a station of the Estonian border guard with a 50 m high observation tower and a radar on the island.
