Vampira (series of novels)
Vampira is a German booklet series from Bastei Verlag , which appeared from 1994 to 1999 and reached a total of 110 editions. The series was conceived by Professor Zamorra author Manfred Weinland and Michael Schönenbröcher .

Lilith Eden is the daughter of the vampire Creanna and the human Sean Lancaster. Her mother broke a law of the vampires by getting involved with a human - she had to die for it when Lilith was born. Lilith was put into a deep sleep without aging. In 1994 - two years before the scheduled time - she wakes up and gradually learns of her destiny to fight the other vampires (the people of the night ). In the course of the series, which initially consists of 50 booklets, she learns about the origin of the vampires and the reason why they were created: The ancestral mother of all vampires is Lilith, Adam's first wife (before Eva). She gave birth to 20 children, the first vampires. To hide them from God, she sent them into the future, to ancient Uruk in Mesopotamia. There the vampires established a reign of terror until they were to be washed away by the biblical flood. However, the vampires found out about the plan because Noah was building an ark. They also built an ark (the dark ark) and survived the Flood. In doing so, however, they lost their memory. After the ark has landed, with one exception, the guardian, they go into deep sleep for 100 years each. The guardian should secretly create new children who should be available to the vampires as servants. To do this, he uses the lily cup , which uses its magic to transform the keeper's blood in such a way that normal human babies turn into vampires. Only the Guardian has this ability. The bite of normal vampires only creates so-called servant beings, which have a short lifespan and, in turn, cannot transmit any vampire germ themselves when bitten.

Vampira is a series of horror novels . In contrast to most other horror magazine series, the main character is female. Sex is a regular part of the plot (which is already indicated on the magazine covers not only by the relatively revealing cover design, but also by the subtitle dangerous - mysterious - erotic ).
After the first 50 issues, Vampira was converted from the novel booklet to the pocket booklet format in 1996. Although the plot was continued, the numbering began again with issue 1. After 60 paperback issues (after a total of 110 novels) the series was discontinued in 1999.
A comic album was published for the series.
Books
From the year 2000, the Zaubermond Verlag published a new edition of the booklet novels in hardcover, in each of which five novels were combined into one volume. Seven volumes were published under the series title Das Volk der Nacht - Klassiker :

The term Vampira was not used in the Zaubermond editions. - Both hard cover series were discontinued in 2003.
Second edition of the novel series
From May 2011 the series was reissued as a booklet. The new edition was discontinued early in 2012 with volume 41; the last volumes were rewritten in order to reach the end of the cycle, which is actually due in volume 50, with volume 41.
The 41 episodes were also published between May 2011 and November 2012 in the form of a digital edition by Bastei Lübbe Verlag.
Radio plays
From April 2006 to August 2007, Lübbe Audio also published a radio play series based on the novel, which was discontinued after eight episodes.
