The Vari Chasapiko ( Βαρύ Χασάπικο , also heavy Chasapiko ) is a modification of the Chasapiko , which is danced in a 4/4 rhythm. It is characterized by the fact that its sequence of steps is not strictly defined, but is given by the dancer.

The Vari Chasapiko, which originated in the taverns of the early 20th century in Athens , Thessaloniki , Constantinople and Smyrna , is an intense and personal expression of the life of the time. To this day, the Vari Chasapiko, unlike other dances that anyone can join, is usually only danced by a few close friends.

Over time it has found its followers all over Greece , from whom it has been further modified. Versions of the Vari Chasapiko are Naftiko chasapiko , Peiraiotiko , Ploioritikos, and Koulouriotiko .
