Vechur (Zebu)

Vechur cattle

The vechur cattle is a rare Zebu -Rinderrasse that after the village vechur cattle in the district of Kottayam in Kerala , India , is named. With an average length of 124 cm and a height of 87 cm, the Vechur cattle is the smallest breed of cattle in the world. It produces the highest amount of milk relative to the feed.

The Vechur is also called Dwarf Cow .

An attempt by a Scottish company to patent the genetic code of the Vechur cattle sparked protests from environmentalists.
