Velocity Impact

Low velocity impact describes a body impact at low speed. The term comes from materials testing and includes the investigation of the extent of damage caused by body impact in different materials.

Based on the impact speed, an event can be classified as follows:

  • Low velocity impact: 0 - 50 m / s
  • Medium velocity impact: 50-200 m / s
  • High velocity impact: 200 - 1000 m / s
  • Hyper velocity impact: <4000 m / s
