Vem är det. Svensk biografisk handbok ( German Who is it. Swedish biographical handbook ) is a reference work with biographical information that was published in 45 editions between 1912 and 2001 by the publisher “PA Norstedt & Söners”. These were published every two years, initially from 1912 to 1920, then from 1923 in odd years. In 2007 a 46 edition was published by the Nationalcyklopedin publishing house in Malmö, but it has been discontinued.
history
The series was founded by the Swedish journalist, author, translator and biographer Johan Erik August Thyselius (1854-1924), who published it until his death in 1924.
The mostly short biographical entries include dates of birth, information on parents, occupation or the published works of well-known people from the fields of church, culture, media, politics, sport, business, science or public administration who were still living at the time of creation. The persons described contributed to the biographies printed with their own information. In addition, entries from important American citizens with Swedish ancestors were printed.
