Sense of responsibility

Responsibility is a social emotion . The person affected instinctively , intuitively or otherwise unconsciously perceives demands made on him. In intellectually and analytically oriented people, this feeling turns into a conscious perception, the sense of responsibility .

Felt responsibility

It develops in childhood, connected with the value system conveyed by the environment . The sense of responsibility helps ensure that social actions take place within an appropriate framework. In the pedagogy and psychology of the 20th and 21st centuries, the consideration of the sense of responsibility is overlaid by the considerations of the sense of guilt. Since the work of Sigmund Freud, a great sensitivity for guilt has developed in western society, which may have been promoted by the western expression of Christianity. The assumption of responsibility often appears to harbor the danger of bearing guilt. In practical behavior therapy and communication theories, on the other hand, an active and positive use of the sense of responsibility develops. Productive work with a sense of responsibility may happen. a. in the theory of nonviolent communication.

Sense of responsibility

The sense of responsibility goes beyond the felt, anticipated responsibility. It means first of all the conscious knowledge or the recognition of the valid normative .

Extended sense of responsibility means that people are responsible for their active actions or omissions, i.e. that they feel responsible.

This is partly demanded by society (family, friends, work environment, clubs, the state, etc.). In dictatorial or ideological societies in particular , an appeal is made to a sense of responsibility.
