Association of German Aid for the Elderly and the Disabled

The Association of German Aid for the Elderly and the Disabled e. V. (VDAB) is a nationwide association for private care companies . It represents the interests of over 1,600 member companies of outpatient and inpatient care for the elderly and the disabled. As a service provider association, the VDAB is part of the self-administration of care at federal and state level.

The VDAB was founded in 1992 by Artur J. Geisler.

The current federal chairman is Stephan Baumann. The full-time federal manager is Thomas Knieling.

The VDAB has its headquarters in Essen . It is divided into twelve legally independent registered associations, the federal association and eleven regional associations. In addition, the VDAB maintains an office in Berlin.

The VDAB operates its own elderly care school, in which more than 1,000 nursing professionals are trained every year.
