Association of German Guarantee Banks

The Association of German Guarantee Banks e. V. (VDB) represents the interests of the 17 legally and economically independent guarantee banks and investment guarantee companies in Germany, which are located in the individual federal states. It was founded in 1990. Since 2012, the VDB has also represented the 15 medium-sized investment companies, together with the BVK - Federal Association of German Capital Investment Companies.

The VDB maintains contact with the Federal Ministry of Economics and the Federal Ministry of Finance , as well as the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority . The association also supports the public relations work of the guarantee banks.

Political decision-makers and the general public are informed about the macroeconomic role of the guarantee banks and the German guarantee system. This also includes joint events and visits to start-up and regional trade fairs.

The association is a member of the European Association of Guarantee Banks (AECM) and thus represents the interests of its members at the level of the European Union . Guy Selbherr is the chairman of the association and Stephan Jansen is the managing director.
