The Verband Hessischer Fischer eV (VHF eV) is a recognized nature conservation association according to §60 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act with its seat in Wiesbaden. It is made up of over 450 fishing clubs and professional fishermen in Hessen.

Goals and club activity

The VHF with its sub-organizations is active for fishing training, advocacy of anglers, the training of water bodies, species protection programs through stocking with endangered fish species, taking over of water sponsorships, renaturation measures and conservation measures in and around the water body. This happens in cooperation with its member associations on a voluntary basis. In addition, as a recognized nature conservation association, it issues statements on construction projects and measures to change the landscape.

For this purpose, the VHF has established several specialist units that deal, for example, with the topics of water and nature conservation. In addition, the VHF is appointed by the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection to be responsible for training for the fishing test. In addition, the VHF also trains water officers for the various types of water. They are committed to the water quality in the waters and prepare long-term reports. Another field of activity is environmental protection with a focus on fish and water protection.

history

The Association of Hessian Fishermen was formed on May 19, 2007 at the joint general meeting of the Fishing Association Kurhessen e. V. and the Verband Hessischer Sportfischer e. V. founded in Alsfeld. Both the Kurhessen Fishing Association, on March 31, 2007 in Baunatal, and the Hessian Sport Fishing Association, on April 15, 2007 in Dillenburg, had previously approved the merger agreement. Wiesbaden was set as the seat of the association, the office of the former fishing association Kurhessen e. V. continued to exist as the North Office. The association now represented around 35,000 anglers and almost all Hessian commercial and part-time fishermen. The commercial fishermen in Hesse are organized in the VHF as an independent unit. The Hessen State Fisheries Association, which is responsible for fishing training in Hessen, is part of the structure of the VHF.

After an initial exploratory meeting in October 2007 and an accession meeting on June 3, 2008, a privately written contract between the VHF e. V. and the regional association of the VDSF (Association of German Sport Fishermen) sealed the merger of the two associations and notarized it on January 22, 2009 in a merger agreement and on April 19, 2009 by the general meeting of the VHF e. V. in Greifenstein-Allendorf and decided on April 26, 2009 by the members of the regional association of the VDSF in Niederdorfelden. March 1, 2010 was set as the merger date. This increased the number of members to almost 40,000 members.
