Association of Rhenish Museums

The Association of Rhenish Museums (VRM) is a registered association and has its seat in Cologne . It represents the interests of around 100 member museums in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhineland.

history

The association was founded in 1927 as the "Association of Rhenish Local Museums". It was re-established in 1962 in Cologne. On November 23, 2017 the Association of Rhenish Museums celebrated its 90th anniversary.

tasks

The VRM names as its tasks: 1. Supporting the diversity of museums with sensible focus formation, 2. Securing the human and material framework conditions, 3. The educational mission of the museums, 4. The introduction of quality management, 5. Civic engagement in the Museums.

activities

The VRM represents the interests of the museums through public statements. He cooperates with the Vereinigung Westfälischer Museen eV and the Landschaftsverband Rheinland, LVR department regional cultural work / museum advice, as well as with other regional, national and international institutions. With specialist conferences and the annual Rhenish Museum Day, it enables professional exchange and advanced training on museum issues. Last but not least, the VRM promotes communication between the member museums through circulars.
