The Association of Salvage and Towing Companies (VBA) , based in Wuppertal, is a nationwide association of salvage and towing companies. It binds membership to the fulfillment of operational, technical and personnel requirements. In 1986 the association introduced certification as a certified VBA specialist company . Around 1,400 companies are organized in the VBA nationwide and in other European countries.

history

In 1963 ten towing companies in Opladen (North Rhine-Westphalia) founded an interest group to develop common standards. Regional groups were founded in the federal states, which were later replaced by regional conferences organized centrally from the office.

In 1973 the Association Days (today's IFBA International Exhibition Bergen + Towing ) were founded.

In 2005 the VBA completed the construction of its first own commercial building in Wuppertal and from there it is still active nationwide.

From 2005 to 2008 an address directory (“guide”) was created for member companies.

Tasks and results

The work of the association includes the ongoing information of the members about the state of the art, the legislative measures as well as the rules and regulations to be observed. Help is offered in business and legal issues. A model security contract is offered for tenders. The association conducts the price and structure survey among the members every two years .

Together with the VBA, the Working Group on Breakdown and Accident Aid eV (APU) has drawn up its specifications.

The association operates an arbitration and arbitration board.

In 2006 a Technical Academy Bergen + Abschleppen GmbH (TABA) was founded.

Publications

From 1970 the VBA published a newsletter for its members, which presented practical and tax law working examples. In 1973 this became a stitched brochure. In 1981 this was renamed to recovery and crane operation and later that year to recovery and towing operation . It has been redesigned several times since 1988 and developed into the trade journal Bergen + abschleppen .

A membership directory was published in the years 1991 up to and including 1999 and was reissued in 2007. In this all member companies of the VBA are sorted by postcode area and listed with their service areas.

organization

Board of Directors and Board of Directors

The association's work is managed by a full-time and a second chairman as well as three other board memberships. Six members of the Board of Directors are appointed to provide support and advice, as well as auditing. They - like the board members - are elected from the ranks of the member companies and consist of natural persons.

Members

The members are composed as follows:

  • Ordinary members
  • Associate members
  • Industry members
  • Honorary members

Ordinary members can be natural as well as legal persons and trading companies who commercially operate a rescue and towing company according to the defined goals of the association. Admission for full members to the association depends on a whole series of professional, personal and technical minimum requirements.
