Bandage clip

Bandage clip (underside with prongs)

A dressing bracket (also Association s cramp ) is a small, elastic and four-pronged clamp with a short elastic. It can be used to close bandages when treating wounds .

Bandage (s) clips are commercially available as medical-technical aids and, more like plasters, ensure fast, safe and repeatable fixation of elastic bandages. The advantage of the bandage clips compared to the closure of the bandage with plaster strips is justified in addition to the reusability of the easier detachment of the clip.

The use of bandage clips has been historically documented since at least the middle of the 19th century by the German surgeon Victor von Bruns , who described the clips in his handbook of practical surgery published in 1853 .

Bandage clips are also called “ mother-in-law ” in hospitals, as is popularly known . The origin of this usage is not clear. In surgery , the bandage clip is also known as a "bug".
