Medal of Merit for the Arts, Science, Commerce, Industry and Agriculture

The medal of merit for art, science, trade, trade and agriculture was donated on February 8, 1899 by Prince Günther von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt as a reward for good performance or service in the aforementioned areas.

Classes

  • First class as a medal of merit in gold or silver for outstanding service
  • Second class as a medal of recognition in silver or bronze for praiseworthy achievements

Appearance

The award is a round medal which, depending on the design, is made of matt silver, matt silver or dark tinted bronze. In the obverse it shows the donor's head turned to the right on a smooth ground. However , the two classes differ from each other in the reverse . The two-line inscription DEM MERIT , enclosed by two loose oak branches, can be seen on a smooth background of the merit medal . The medal of recognition shows the monogram G (Günther) , which is exaggerated by a prince's hat .

Carrying method

Both classes were worn on a white ribbon with two light blue central stripes on the left side of the chest.

Awards

The medal was awarded very sparingly in the individual versions and was subject to return after the death of the borrower.
