Honored metal worker of the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored Metalworker of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30, 1975. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in socialist competition in solving economic problems in the metalworking industry. This primarily concerned the fulfillment of high goals in the annual plan as well as excellent achievements in the scientific and technical field. Furthermore, also for services in rationalization to intensify the reproductive process and ultimately also for many years of exemplary commitment in this area. The number of maximum awards was limited to 105 honorary degrees per year.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows the head of a worker in front of several machine tools on its obverse, as well as the inscription: MERIT METAL WORKER . The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left chest on a 25 × 14 mm silver-gray covered ribbon. Two vertical blue stripes 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem.
