Honored employee of the trade of the German Democratic Republic

The honorary title of Honored Employee in Commerce of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30, 1975. It was bestowed for outstanding achievements in solving economic tasks to supply the population. Also for special merits and initiatives in competition and in the scientific and technical field, but also for economic integration and socialist rationalization in trade and foreign trade in the GDR and, ultimately, for many years of exemplary commitment in the transport sector. The maximum number of awards was limited to 30 honorary degrees per year, from 1986 this number rose to 100 honorary degrees annually.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows an H on its obverse at its upper edge, surrounded by a laurel wreath . Underneath the three-line inscription: DESERVED EMPLOYEE / DES TRADE . Two more laurel branches are shown under the lettering, which swing outwards from the center. The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm white ribbon. Two vertical blue stripes 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem.
