The honorary title of Honored Worker in the field of domestic and communal services of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30, 1975. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in solving economic tasks in the field of domestic and communal services, but also for merits and initiatives in competition as well as for excellent achievements in the scientific and technical field. Furthermore, also for services in rationalization or for the execution of new needs-based types of services and ultimately also for long-term exemplary commitment in this area. The maximum number of awards was limited to 55 honorary degrees per year.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows on its obverse the raised and entwined letters DL (service), which are bordered by a laurel wreath that is crossed at the bottom and is open at the top. The reverse of the medal shows the small state coat of arms of the GDR under the inscription below: DESERVED WORKERS / OF THE AREA OF / HOUSEHOLD AND COMMUNAL SERVICES / EFFICIENCY .

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm ribbon with a blue covering. Two vertical orange strips 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem.
