The honorary title of Honored Worker in the Post and Telecommunications System of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30, 1975. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in solving economic tasks in the postal and telecommunications system, but also for merits and initiatives in competition as well as for excellent achievements in the scientific and technical field. Furthermore, also for services in rationalization and intensification and ultimately for many years of exemplary commitment in this area. The number of maximum awards was limited to 10 honorary titles per year, from 1986 the number of honorary titles was increased to 20.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows a circle on its obverse, half consisting of the above laurel wreath and the lower half consisting of the inscription: POST- UND FERNMELDEWESEN . The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm red covered ribbon. Two vertical yellow stripes 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem.
