The honorary title of Honored Worker in Transport of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. The title was donated on January 30th, 1975. It was awarded for outstanding achievements in the fulfillment or overcrowding of the specified planned tasks in the transport sector , which had an effect by increasing productivity and increasing effectiveness. Also for special merits in the implementation of scientific and technical progress and rationalization in the transport sector, but also for many years of exemplary commitment in the transport sector. The number of maximum awards was limited to 30 honorary degrees per year.

Appearance

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm shows a pearl circle on its obverse . In it are two modern, curved laurel leaves that are crossed at the bottom. In the middle is the symbol of the transport system with the three-line inscription underneath: MERIT / WORKING WORKERS / TRANSPORT SYSTEMS . The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms.

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 14 mm ribbon with a blue covering. Two vertical red stripes 3 mm wide are woven into it, 3 mm from the hem. A gold-plated miniature of the symbol of transport is also attached to the interim clasp.
