Damn it
Darn and sewn up is a German saying .
It is seen as an enhancement of the curse damned and has the subsidiary forms damned and sewn up and cursed and sewn up . Darn is a euphemistic form of the word cursed .
The phrase comes from a student song that says:
I have a loved one,
she is beautiful, she shows me her apples, that's what happens to me.
But when my loved one confesses to me that I love fruit,
I cursed my pants and sewed it shut.
According to another theory, the exclamation was used when one of the timpani edges in student fencing received such a severe blow that it had to be sewn immediately.
