Dalibor Karvay

Dalibor Karvay (born July 24, 1985 in Martin , Slovakia in what is now an independent part of Vrútky ) is a Slovak violinist. He studies with Boris Kuschnir at the Conservatory Vienna Private University .

Life

He already showed his remarkable musical talent in early childhood. When he was three years old, he began taking violin lessons from his father. Karvay gave his first concert at the age of 7 and during his lessons at the music school in Vrútky ( Slovakia ) he already recorded pieces for the Slovak radio. Since the age of eight he has participated in numerous well-known music competitions (see below), including the 1995 interpretation course in Piešťany (Slovakia) under the direction of Eduard Grač . A year later he released his first CD.

His first mentor was the violinist Bohdan Warchal , who was also the editor of his first CD. He received his first systematic training at the Conservatory in Zlín ( Czech Republic ) with Bohumil Urban . Since 2000 he has been - first as an extraordinary, later as a full - student at the Conservatory Vienna Private University with the violinist Boris Kuschnir . At the same time he is studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . In 2002 he took part in Herman Krebbers ' master class course . In the academic year 2002/2003 he received a scholarship from the Herbert von Karajan Center .

His concerts have taken him to many other countries in Europe, South and North America and Asia.

His life and the search for a suitable Stradivarius violin were filmed by Sven Hartung in 2004 in the documentary "Stradivarius - Love at First Tone" .

Today (as of 2009) he lives in Vienna.
