Bohdan Warchal

Bohdan Warchal (born January 27, 1930 in Orlová , Czechoslovakia ; † December 30, 2000 in Bratislava , Slovakia ) was a Slovak violinist , member of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor and soloist of the Slovak Chamber Orchestra.

Warchal was trained as a violinist at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno . In 1957 he was appointed concertmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava . In 1960 he founded the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, of which he was artistic director and soloist. In 1969 he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist" and in 1983 the title of "National Artist" by the then Czechoslovak government.
