Slovak Philharmonic
The Slovak Philharmonic ( Slovenská filharmónia in Slovak ) is the most important orchestra in Slovakia . It is headquartered in the Redoute in the old town of Bratislava . There is a concert hall for 700 visitors.
History and present
The orchestra was founded in 1949, a. a. by the conductors Václav Talich and Ľudovít Rajter .
Outside of the annual concert season, the Slovak Philharmonic goes on tour and plays at various festivals in Europe. Other host countries so far have been Turkey, Japan and the United States. The orchestra appears regularly on radio and television and has recorded numerous recordings, including for OPUS, Supraphon , Panton , Hungaroton , JVC Victor , RCA Records , Pacific Music and Naxos Records .
