Under Vermuren means the anchoring of a ship with two anchors .

technology

Vermuren

The ship is anchored normally with the main anchor at twice the chain length (approximately six to ten times the water depth). Next you drive in reverse gear with the current or the wind until the anchor stops. Then the stern anchor is anchored and about half of the chain of the bow anchor is brought back in. In this way, the ship's swivel radius is reduced considerably.

scenario

This anchoring maneuver is used when you expect the wind or current to turn , for example due to the tides or in flowing waters. In the ideal case, only one of the two anchors is loaded when mowing.
