In Bavarian school law (regulated in Article 86 of the BayEUG ), a more stringent reference , also known as a directorate reference , is a reference issued by the school principal or his deputy . It can be given to a student if the provisions of the Education Act, school rules or house rules have been violated. The principle of proportionality must be observed. As a rule, a tightened reference is preceded by one or more references from teachers, but there is no particular order. References and intensified references are not yet an administrative act. A hearing of the pupil concerned is required before the written notification to the legal guardian . In the event of serious misconduct, stricter regulatory measures can be applied.
