application

A countersink (also known as a nail driver ) is a tool used to drive the head of a nail into the surface of wood so that it doesn't protrude from the surface.

The countersink is similar to the punch , but has no point, but is flat or slightly concave at the front end to accommodate the nail head.

Another method with a similar goal, especially for harder materials, is countersinking .
