Antonella Bellutti (born November 7, 1968 in Bozen , South Tyrol ) is an Italian cyclist , track and field athlete , bobsledder and sports official. She is a two-time Olympic champion in track cycling and was one of the dominant track cyclists in the 1990s.

Athletic career

After training as a primary school teacher in Bolzano and as a sports teacher in Florence , Bellutti worked as a sports teacher and trainer as well as a sports journalist and sports official (National Olympic Committee).

Between 1982 and 1992 Bellutti competed as a track and field athlete in the sprint disciplines of 100-meter and 400-meter as well as heptathlon and was able to set seven Italian records, win seven Italian championship titles and various youth prizes. After an injury, she switched to cycling in 1992 .

In track cycling , Bellutti won two Olympic gold medals (in the single pursuit at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and in the points race in 2000 in Sydney ), an overall World Cup, four special World Cups , an EM gold medal (in the 1997 Omnium in Berlin ), a World Cup silver medal (in the pursuit in 1995 in Bogotá ), a world championship bronze medal (in the pursuit in 1996 in Manchester ), 13 World Cup races and 16 Italian championships. She also set two world records and one Olympic record. In addition, she won 14 road races during this time.

After her career in cycling in 2000, Bellutti competed in a season pushing the two-man bobsleigh with Olympic luge champion Gerda Weißensteiner ; the duo was at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City seventh.
