The SAS jug from 1988

The company is originally a merger of design groups , which was started by a few young designers in 1969, and Ergonomidesign , which was reorganized by Henrik Wahlfors in 1971. In 1979 the two companies decided to merge to form the Ergonomi Design Group . Since 2001 the company has been called Ergonomidesign again .

As with many other young design companies in Sweden in the 1970s, aids for the physically challenged should become a main product of Ergonomi Design groups . In 1972, two of the founders, Maria Benktzon and Sven-Erik Juhlin, carried out extensive ergonomic and physiological studies, for example to investigate the grip of bread knives and hand tools. The result has been a long line of ergonomically shaped items for handicap organizations, tool manufacturers and the pharmaceutical industry. In 1988 Ergonomidesign developed a drip-free cabin jug for SAS , over 100,000 of which were produced and which is used by around 20 airlines worldwide. The company is known for its machine designs that minimize accidents and stress damage.
