Video recruiting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Video recruiting refers to a form of recruiting through the use of cinematic means within electronic media and personnel systems. Effective video recruiting supports the recruiting company's HR department in order to increase the number of qualified applicants and offers the job seeker greater insights and information on the vacant position.

Video interviews

Initially, video recruiting was understood as a new form of applying for vacant jobs. Applicants submitted a film self-presentation either completely or in addition to the written application documents. However, this form of application was often not desired or honored because the attachments were often too large and the content lengthy.

Today, a much more effective variant is used by companies. Applicants are asked to do a video interview, which can take place in real time or in the form of a recording. The latter offers the advantage that candidates as well as companies can record and edit the content regardless of time and place. Some of the leading and most widespread tools are currently WePow, Talentcube or HireVue, which make it possible to conduct and view the interviews with a computer, but also smartphone or tablet.

Video interviews offer companies many advantages, but also bring small stumbling blocks for candidates, as many are unsure how to look in front of the webcam. While technology could still be a tricky point 3-4 years ago, this has largely been done today thanks to smartphones, better computers and fast Internet.

Video HR branding

For some years now, video recruiting has been increasingly used by companies in order to increase their attractiveness as an employer as part of employer branding . The aim of employer branding is essentially to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of personnel recruitment and the quality of applicants over the long term.

Videos are used to introduce the company to potential employees. But also to explain jobs and areas of responsibility. The job videos are increasingly replacing the classic advertisement.
