Viipurin Palloseura
Viipurin Palloseura ( ViPS for short ) was a Finnish sports club from Viipuri . The association was founded in 1928 and dissolved when the city of Viipuri fell to the Soviet Union as a result of the winter war of 1939/40 .
The club celebrated its greatest successes in the bandy . In 1931 and 1936 ViPS was Finnish champion, in 1934 runner-up. In ice hockey, the club reached the finals for the Finnish championship in the 1928/29 season, but failed in the semifinals with 3: 4 to Helsingin Palloseura . The football department was one of the founding members of Mestaruussarja in 1930, the highest national division in Finnish football. After a fourth place in 1930 ViPS rose from the league in 1931.
