Vikram (name)
Vikram is a male given name of the Hindus and means the wise , the brave , the strong . Originally the name is derived from one of the qualities of the god Vishnu , the preserver, one of the triunities of the Hindu devas . Vikram is one of the first names in the Vishnu Sahasranama , a series of poems in honor of Vishnu in which a thousand names (Sahasranam) are assigned to him, each name describing a quality of his greatness.
The name Vikram does not come from the king Vikramaditya , who ruled India for 39 years (375-414). Vikramaditya is more of a royal title.
