Villa Ohl

The Villa Ohl is a former factory owner's villa, which today houses a black powder museum, among other things . It is in the Wipperfürth locality of Ohl in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

description

Family members of the powder manufacturers Cramer and Buchholz lived in the roughly two-hundred-year-old house and had such a strong influence on regional economic activity that the region was called the “Kingdom of Buchholz”. Because of a visit by Kaiser Wilhelm II , it was sometimes also called the "Imperial Villa".

Today the Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Wipperfürth eV runs a museum on the first floor . The story of the black powder mills in the valley of the Wipper and its side streams is presented. Trade and transport are also illuminated.
