Vinerius Church

The Church of St. Vinerius is a Roman Catholic church in the Unterwinkel part of the Vorarlberg community of Nüziders . It is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The church is located at a low level in the south of the village center of Nüziders.

The church is the oldest church in Walgau . The Romanesque barrel-vaulted rectangular building under a gable roof has an attached tower to the north. The base floor is from the 12th century, the barrel vault shows the year 1667.

In the church interior wall frescoes of St. Christopher and St. Three Kings around 1330. In front of the pointed arch portal is a sign with an open roof truss on two brick pillars and two wooden columns. The church tower is bricked with natural stones, is not plastered, and is finished with a gable roof. The sacristy is next to the church tower and the choir.

The altar shows figures, in the middle a crucifix , St. Viner on the left, St. Cecilia on the right , around 1530. The painting Maria in Hope from 1713 was donated by Johannes Schrody, mason master in Brno in Moravia and was taken from the chapel on Lazerberg transferred here.
