Violet Blue (born September 22 in San Francisco ) is an American author , sex educator , columnist , podcaster and editor of literature on human sexuality .

Blue wrote a weekly sex column for the San Francisco Chronicle and is a regular contributor to sex-positive feminism on her blog Tiny Nibbles and Fleshbot sex blog . Violet Blue is also a regular contributor to sexuality and technology for CNET , ZDNet , CBS News and SF Appeal.

Her podcast Open Source Sex , in which she reads Erotica and talks about topics such as sexual fetishes and oral sex, ranks third on iTunes' daily charts . Blue continues to publish a regular video blog. In July 2007, she published an article in O, The Oprah Magazine on pornographic materials aimed specifically at women.

She has also written, edited or contributed to related books on the subject of sexuality.

Name suit

In October 2007, Violet Blue sued the porn actress Ada Mae Johnson, using the pseudonym Violet Blue, for infringing her trademark rights and unfair business practices, with reference to what she saw as a takeover of her name and her branding. Due to the lawsuit, the actress changed her pseudonym to Violetta Blue , after the verdict was announced (and the ban on similar pseudonyms) to Noname Jane .
