Virtual graduate college

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A virtual graduate college is a graduate college that brings together doctoral students from several universities in a joint training program, whereby a large part of the training and supervision takes place with the help of new media ("virtual"). Virtual seminars combine the advantages of intensive local collaboration at research locations with virtual collaboration across individual locations. They can be supported by groupware systems such as the BSCW . The first virtual graduate college in Germany funded by the German Research Foundation was founded in 1999 under the title "Acquiring and exchanging knowledge with new media". Seven research institutes from three cities (Freiburg, Münster and Tübingen) are involved today.
