John Constable, 2nd Viscount of Dunbar

Viscount of Dunbar was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .

Award

The title was created on November 14, 1620 for the Scottish knight Sir Henry Constable . Along with the Viscount dignity , he was given the subordinate title of Lord Constable . The two titles were awarded with the special addition that, in the absence of direct male descendants, they can also be passed on to other male heirs, provided that they bear the name and coat of arms of the Constable family.

The two titles have been suspended since the childless death of the 4th Viscount on August 15, 1718. Although there are numerous male descendants of the nephews of the last Viscount, none of them has so far been able to legally assert his claim to the title.
