The Ateliers de Constructions A. Popineau were a French manufacturer of rail vehicles and construction machinery.
Company history
The company was founded on June 1, 1897 as Popineau, Vizet Fils & Cie at 144 avenue de Paris in Saint-Denis as a mechanical construction workshop. The company had its offices at 17 rue du Landy in La Plaine Saint-Denis . There was an office in the capital around 1901 at 23 rue de Dunkerque in Paris.
The two companies separated in 1909, but in 1920 they formed a cartel as Comptoir du matériel pour les travaux publics, les mines et l'industrie . Popineau & Cie was still active in the late 1930s.
Products
Important products were narrow-gauge tipping lorries with a capacity of 300 to 2000 liters, track material and concrete mixers for mixing 3 to 12 m³ of concrete per hour.
Another product were around 1,932 two- and three-axle narrow gauge - steam locomotives of the following series:
- Type 1 with two coupled axles with an empty weight of 5 tons
- Type 2 with two coupled axles with an empty weight of 6.5 tons
- Type 3 with three coupled axles with an empty weight of 8 tons
The locomotives had a track width of 600 mm and a Walschaerts control with cylindrical slide valves. They were designed for use on construction sites.

Popineau steam locomotives were used by the following companies, among others:
- Carrieres de Villeneuve-sur-Verberie , scrapped in 1961
- La Puce, Sablière de l'Oise
