Vogt-Russell theorem

The Vogt-Russell theorem (or Russell-Vogt theorem ) is a context in astronomy named after Heinrich Vogt and Henry Norris Russell . It is also known as Vogt's uniqueness theorem .

It states that the mass and (chemical) composition of a star clearly determine its radius, its luminosity , its internal structure and its evolution over time. The theorem is only a rough approximation of the actual conditions in a star and is now used more as a rule of thumb.
