The Volcanal , the altar of the fire and blacksmith god Vulcanus , is one of the oldest sanctuaries of the Roman Forum in Rome and lies behind the Umbilicus urbis . However, it is not certain whether it was also consecrated to the god Saturnus . The sanctuary is said to have been founded by the Sabine king Titus Tatius . It dates from the 6th or 7th century BC. Christ, but was later partially changed.
